Renowned Bondi-based sculptor, Dion Horstmans, was commissioned by East 33 to create a bespoke platter to serve a dozen of East 33’s delicious bivalves.
Chosen because of his dynamic approach to his art and life-long connection to the sea, Dion created a design that is so incredibly unique, people would know it only to be East 33 x Dion Horstmans bespoke oyster platter.
Dion started the design process by folding paper and eventually created a design whereby the lines of platter resonated with the ocean and the ebb and flow of tides. Dion refers to the “beautifully faceted platter” and its “glittering surface” as “the ocean or the inside of an oyster shell.”
